Department Information:

Halsburys Statu tes publish a range of products annually including reissue volumes, service issues, a cumulative supplement, tables and indexes, and legislation citators. The citators,Bill Tracker and Halsburys Statutes Annotations are also online products. In addition, we operate a telephone helpline for subscribers queries.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Were looking for an editor to work on all aspects of Halsburys Statutes, starting with Noter-u, the Citator and eventually volume reissue and annotation of new Acts.

Tasks include:

daily monitoring of new developments

online updating

preparing annual publications

production of service issue and annual publications

checking and correcting typeset proofs

dealing with customers queries

We provide intensive one to one training and ongoing development opportunities which are both specific to this role and relevant to legal publishing generally. Whilst this is an entry level position, the departm ent offers excellent career prospects for candidates with a serious interest in a career in legal publishing.

Key Skills Required:

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, conscientious, enthusiastic, willing to take initiative and responsibility, and will have:

a good degree

an excellent eye for detail

a good grasp of English (including spelling, grammar and punctuation), with an ability to write clearly and concisely

the ability to work to tight deadlines

high levels of concentration

strong computer skills

qualification or interest in the law

editorial experience would be advantageous
