Payroll Administrator

This role is ideal as a second position for someone who wants to develop their skills and knowledge and further their career within Payroll.This role requires hands on approach and presents an opportunity to work closely with Payroll Controller and get involved in all aspects of Payroll management.
Job Purpose
This position is responsible for the administration of the companys time and attendance and payroll systems. The P ayroll Administrator is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client service, including recordkeeping and reporting. This position provides support to the Payroll Controller.
Principal AccountabilitiesPayroll Process
Responsible for processing Starters, Leavers, increases and contract variations, Tax Code changes, Court Orders, Student Loans, Bank Detail changes.
Administering all aspects of payroll from start to finish including calculating and processing SSP, SMP, and manual payments.
Formulate, collect and process timesheets for hourly paid staff on a weekly basis.
Manage the absence records on the system, including annual leave and sickness.
Support and deputise for the Payroll Controller in the running of the full payroll cycle.
Administration
To ensure accurate records of all relevant paperwork are maintained in an effective system to allow audit trail queries.
To support the Human Resources Administrator to ensure accurate employee records are maintained.
To contribute to the ongoing monitoring, review and implementation of improvements to the administration processes for the payroll procedures as necessary.
To manage employees files accurately and ensure they fulfil compliance criteria.
Client Service
To be responsible for answering pay related queries and escalating them to the Payroll Controller as appropriate.
To manage the payroll query email account and responding to queries in a timely manner.
Person SpecificationEssential
Knowledge of Tax and NI calculations
At least Intermediate knowledge of MS Office products, including: Word, Excel, Outlook
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional organisational skills
Attention to detail
Knowledge of relevant legislation (current and pending)
Desirable

Highly motivated
Previous experience of current software
