Description of the job
A Vacancy has arisen at Airbus UK for a Lead Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer to work within the multidisciplinary team currently tasked with the A320 NEO Project. The successful candidate will be working within the Wing and Pylon Centre of Excellence (TWE) situated on the Filton site (Bristol).
Tasks
As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:
-Leading the F&DT analysis of composite and metallic aircraft structures using standard fatigue, crack growth and residual strength calculations
-Assessing and developing design solutions using standard hand and computer methods
-Working as part of the Single Aisle project teams and addressing all issues related to the main wingbox, fixed leading edge and trailing edge structures and control surfaces (moveables) on the outer wing for the NEO development;
-Liaising with the methods and data group in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments
-Providing leadership, in respect of airworthiness regulations and requirements, to the rest of the team as well as advising and supporting the static stress and design groups for the continuous product development activity, through out the life of the product
-Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
-Experience working as an F&DT Engineer, within the aircraft industry, involved in fatigue analysis of metallic primary structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods;
-A in depth understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for fatigue and crack growth and the ability to develop these methods and assess structural analysis problems
-A good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes
-Ability to work well within a multifunctional team/transnational team environment;
-High regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle
-Proven leadership skills
-Experience of PC and mainframe computer systems and good knowledge of the application of FE analysis
-Strong communication skills including a high level of English on both verbal and written levels.
