Innovation Works is the Corporate Research Centre of EADS. It consists of some 700 research scientists and engineers, mainly located in France, Germany, Spain, and UK. Innovation Works is organised into transnational Technical Capability Centres (TCCs). It works with Universities, Suppliers, and Research Organisations to develop new technologies and innovative approaches for all EADS Business Units.

Description of the job
A Research Team Leader is being recruited by EADS Innovation Works in Newport. The successful applicant will lead the Energy and Power management architectures team within EADS Innovation Works UK, as part of a transnational management team.

Tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Developing Researc h Team capability
- Developing team members
- Developing network of collaborators
- Developing and manage Research Team portfolio of projects
- Recruiting and management of team and sub-contractors
- Developing new research proposals
- Leading research projects, including the management of subcontractors, and external suppliers
- Conduction energy and power management architectures work in conjunction with other elements of Innovation Works, and EADS business units
- Extending EADS knowledge of power, energy and environmental topics
- Technology transfer into EADS business units
- Developing the international reputation of EADS
- The candidate must be able to work within an international team environment, and must be prepared to travel overseas when required

Your skills
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
Qualifications:
- Excellent educational track record , minimum of physics/engineering degree (or equivalent), PhD qualification desirable
Knowledge and Experience:
- Team leadership experience
- Capable negotiator for development of research portfolio
- Good background of systems engineering
- Effective working knowledge of aircraft systems essential, knowledge of operational aspects of aircraft desirable
- Energy and power systems knowledge
- Electrical engineering background is appreciated
- Research or working experience within aerospace or defence industry
- Knowledge of product development an advantage
- Computer literate, with good proficiency in MS Office applications essential
