Our client is a leading, global Commodity trading (Soft Commodities, metals, sugar, molasses, coffee, tropical oils, bio-fuels and more) business found in over 50 countries worldwide. Recruiting to support planned growth, this is a London based role as Head of Group Operational Risk Management.

The Head of Group Operational Risk Managements primary responsibilities are to work as part of the Group Risk Department and provide oversight and assurance that the Busine ss Units front to back Operational Risk practices and management are effective through the implementation of appropriate infrastructure, policies and procedures within a defined framework with adequate control, review and reporting of the key BU Operational risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the Group wide oversight and assurance of Operational Risk management:

Define the Operational Risk standards for the Group;Assist the BUs in implementing an Operational Risk Management framework;Develop Group wide Operational Risk Management reporting to identify hot spots/KRIs/trends/adequacy and strength of the control environment with supporting analysis and effective mitigation plans;Participate in the development of tools, processes, methodologies and standards for the Group;Conduct stress tests on the Groups Operational risk Management framework and controls;Participate or lead projects to implement new policies or initiatives for Operational Risk management;Assist i n preparation of Group Operational Risk reports for presentation at the monthly Risk Committee meetings;Assist in defining and implementing a Group wide reporting system;Preparation for, and participation in, the Divisional and Group Risk Committees.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Given the broad range of Operational Risk issues, suitable candidates should have extensive experience in Operational Risk/Compliance with a strong understanding of Operational Risk Management including detailed knowledge of how to develop an Operational Risk framework including reporting and analysis. Previous experience in a commodities trading company is required alongside a good awareness of physical trading and associated issues as well as a commercial outlook. A demonstrable track record in problem solving and a control based environment is required.

Ability to work independently, or within a team, towards Group wide objectives.Ability to interact with traders, op erations, finance, back office, senior management and stakeholders.A mind-set that challenges the status quo in an effective manner to drive change.Highly developed inter-personal skills with sensitivity to local cultural differences and able to report/communicate in a clear and concise manner. Good Operational Risk systems experience including process analysis and Risk assessment tools.Strong presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills.This position would involve travel and is a key leadership role with the ability to have a major impact.
