Description of the job
A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Data Illustrator to be based on the Filton site near Bristol. The jobholder will join the UK Illustration Services line (ISL) and will be part of a transnational team, involved with activities associated with illustration creation and validation. The successful candidate will ensure a harmonised approach is used to the Airbus style and standards both by internal and external creators.
Tasks
As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:
Creating illustrations based on definition dossiers and rules
Produce illustrations that meet the requirements of Technical Data authors and spares engineers
Analysing source data requests from authors and illustrators
Inspecting and checking the incoming work of sub-contractors
Sourcing and retrieving data from digital dock up datab ases
Keeping up to date with the individual style and standards of various programs
Managing source data and IT issues
Managing workflow to dedicated time scales
Maintaining production and validation in accordance with deadlines set by customers and ISL management
Reporting on workload and quality issues through weekly meetings, highlighting potential risks and issues at the earliest opportunity
Adjusting engineering data with regards to requested requirements
Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
Experience working as a technical illustrator
Experience working in the aviation industry would be an advantage
Knowledge of technical manuals / catalogues is desirable
The ability to interrogate a bill of material and parts list
The ability to evaluate documents, vendor manuals and sketch actual components
The ability to produce clear, accurate and concise illustrations
A good understanding of 3D graphics and the ability to navigate DMU trees is desired
A team player with personnel drive and the ability to work under minimum supervision
Must be willing to travel to other local lines (Germany, France, Spain)
