Instant are looking for a motivated, capable and dynamic person to join our growing IT team, providing support to key functions of the business.

As a Developer and Technical Writer you will be responsible for technically documenting all our existing systems, as well as aiding with the development, Quality Assurance (QA) testing and documentation of both legacy and new systems.

We are looking for a multi-disciplined IT professional who will have extensive experience both as a methodology based technical writer and QA testing, as well as a developer of structured and efficient web applications in ASP.net, JS (Ajax) and using Microsoft SQL databases .

Your Responsibilities

You will report to the IT Manager, and receive daily guidance and support from our external system developer. Your core responsibilities will fall in to three main areas.

Technical Writer

Document the core in house legacy systems of FRED and our global website. Write technical specifications for new developments of legacy systems. Migrate technical specifications into our technical documentation library.

Review existing documentation of systems and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.

Develop and maintain configuration, how-to documentation and detailed technical and functional documentation for new systems and changes to legacy systems.

Interview system u sers to become familiar with product technologies and business methods and workflow to establish functional specifications

QA Tester

Design of system and unit, and regression test plans to cover all scenarios, for new internal developments.

Prepare and document the scenario test cases in accordance with business and functional requirements.

Research, design, and write new test software programs.

Maintaining systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects

Evaluate, troubleshoot and test applications repeatedly in search of bugs and errors.

Execute test scripts, record results and defects

Manage defects through to closure

Developer

ASP.net coding and development for web applications using efficient and optimised coding structure and methods

Experience of working in a team and using change control methods and soft ware.

Providing production support of web applications by investigating and recreating reported defects.

Investigating new technologies

Knowledge of how coding methods will affect performance and usability of an application.

About You

You will have excellent written and spoken communication skills and really enjoy working with people. You will be able to confidently communicate ideas and information to people with different levels of understanding across the entire business globally and with people outside of Instant.

You are highly motivated and have an analytical mind, able to grasp complex software and learn quickly. You must have a positive outlook and an even, unflappable nature to be able to cope with a fair degree of pressure at times.

Someone with a sense of humour and strong organisational skills, you pay close attention to detail and ensure you maintain servi ce levels and meet industry standards.

The right person is highly team-spirited with the Instant Lime Green attitude, yet totally capable of working on your own initiative

Your Experience

You must be able to provide 3 examples of your prior work;

1.A technical document

2.An example of coding work utilising both ASP.NET and MS SQL.

3.A test script, ideally with a supporting automated test software.

Excellent communication skills are essential. You must be able to write in plain English and communicate in a clear way.
