Our client are looking to recruit a project engineer to join their team - involved in the special purpose machines used in the metrology sector

The three main areas of the role are;

Steer the mechanical design effort both directly and through internal and external engineering resources.

Ensure quality and cost leadership is achieved through design for manufacture and value engineering

Project manage a small team internal and external mechanical, software and electronic engineers.

Manage project budgets and timescales effectively

Deliver highly differentiated exciting products to market

Provide weekly and monthly reporting on project progress, risks and successes

Work closely with manufacturing and facilitate a smooth and successful transition into production to ensure product quality targets are met.

Deliver accurate BOMs (Bills of materials)

Work with Service and Product Managers to create and release product support documentation

Requirements of the candidate

Qualifications

Degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, physics or demonstrate equivalent level of expertise - essential

Experience in precision engineering, project management or manufacturing engineering - essential

Working knowledge or NPI processes, Manufacturing Methods and Quality Systems - desirable

Multi-disciplined

Understanding and appreciation of electrical, electronic, software and firmware design - desirable

Leadership Style

Ability to manage internal and external engineers and project resources - essential

Manage conflicts and crises in a efficient and sensitive manner - desirable

Self Motivated & Confident

Demonstrate tenacity and drive in delivering objective and ability to convince others to support team goals - essential

Ability to adjusts quickly and efficiently to changing conditions - essential

Team Player

Able to work as part of a highly motivated team - essential

Be able to balance individual targets and goals with those of whole team and business - desirable

Software

CAD, Word, Powerpoint, Excel - essential

FEA (stiffness / vibration analysis), Project Management Tools - desirable
