As the Purchasing Manager, you will take responsibility for the total supplier selection, negotiation, order placement and contract provision for suppliers; owning Total Cost Reduction TCR initiatives to deliver tangible cost savings within specific annual targets.

Within the role you will manage the preferred supplier database, updating the tender list by product category and completing the final negotiation and costs of each project; liaising with sales to back contractual arrangements into sales customer agreements.You will make the final decision on actual supplier use for each project, signing off on every cost sheet prior to approving back to Sales; managing tender projects and actively selecting and approving new suppliers within core categories.

You must understand the business competitiveness of each purchase category and actively identify new categories for consideration whilst overseeing resource loading against specific projects / purchase category and quality complaint communication with suppliers.

Candidates for this role must be educated to degree level or equivalent and / or hold a CIPS qualification coupled with a background in Purchasing Management in the Packaging / Trading / FMCG industry.With experience of leading change within the supply chain, supplier rationalisation and delivering major strategic cost reduction, you will have extensive knowledge of China sourcing and import considerations of Asia supply.

With a high level of commercial acumen and numerically astute, you will be structured and disciplined in your approach and will have the ability to work autonomously and make business critical decisions.Due to the nature of the role, frequent travel to Asia will be necessary and some Asian / European language skills would be beneficial.
