The role

The purpose of this role is to enhance and develop AXA Personal Lines IT systems using industry best practices and standards. The role entails working at every stage of the development lifecycle. Use of good analytical skills in order to develop using a range of tools and languages on the Microsoft plaftorm. Good people and communication skills are required, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced / Agile environment as part of a team or on your own.

Key accountabilites:Quality Assurance & Support Ensure completed work meets required standards of quality, and develop working practices to achieve improvements in both productivity and quality.To design and develop ensuring strong functionality and optimisation.Communication - Communicating effectively with team members, development / delivery managers and internal / external customers.Understand the business / delivery requirements and relate these to technical requirements.Submit design, code and unit tests for approval.Ensure all developments adhere to all quality and security standards. (Unit tests, owasp standards etc).Conduct each phase of the software development lifecycle ensuring timely delivery of all activities across the projectsInvestigate and resolve problemsPlan and undertake changes to software/hardware as agreed with the businessTo undertake relevant training and maintain competences in relation to Agile development.


Skills, knowledge and behaviour

Web development skills ASP.Net, C, MVC 2/3, HTML, XML, Javascript, CSS, JQuery. Experience of SQL Server developmentExperience of Agile practices is desirable2 years + experience in e-Commerce developmentExperience of application development in the insurance or financial sector is desirableBizTalk experience is desirableExperience of working in a web facing / customer environment.Experience of a client / server environment.Knowledge of methodologies for developing, building and configuring a system / network.To carry out maintenance and support of assigned systems.Ability to structure and create technical documentation.Analytical skills. Must be methodical and structured in approach to design, development, unit testing, problem solving and testing.Strong attention to detail and quality.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Good administrative and organisational skills.Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks and able to work in a team or on your own.Ability to quickly learn new technologies, skills and methodologies.Willingness to expand and develop your existing skills through in-house and / or external training.Enthusiasm for web based systems.
