Programme Manager - Distribution

Based at Asda House, Asda's Retail Head Office in Leeds.

The Asda Distribution network comprises of 36 sites across 6 networks delivering 1.6bn cases a year. The Distribution Programme Office Manager is accountable for the Distribution Programme Office which is responsible for the development communication and execution of the 5 year strategic plan; focused on '5 Cs' Customer, Cost, Capacity, Carbon and Compliance enabled through three key areas Systems and Process alongside the culture of Continuous Improvement Through Colleague Engagement. Included within this is the overall sponsorship of the Distribution WO4L plan delivering a challenging benefit to the business and reporting at Board Level.
Role Description
Managing and reporting progress of the Programme at regular intervals to the Senior Distribution Team on large complex projects
Ensuring Strategic Fit and robust sign off process and engagement of stakeholders through Project initiation
Working closely with Senior Distribution Team to define future Strategic Roadmap aligned to the overall Distribution Vision and Operating model
Continue to develop Distribution's Programme Management way of working, adapting the approach to suit key Business Stakeholders including ISD and US and International Logistics
Ownership for Distribution WO4L Plan and delivery including reporting to the Board
Planning and Designing the Programme aligned to the 5 Year Distribution Strategy and proactively monitor its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
Defining and adhering to the Programme's Governance arrangements
Continuing to develop and ensure full Post Investment Appraisal is complete on all projects
Ensuring that there is efficient allocation of resources and skills within the project portfolio
Managing both dependencies and interfaces between the projects
Effective Risk Management tracking and process
Key Skills Required
Strong Leadership capability, with an engaging yet tenacious style that supports ensuring of delivery against a complex Programme with a number of interdependencies
Understanding of Programme Management Principles (MSP, Prince II)
Experience of leading and delivering on Strategic Change Programmes
Ability to personally handle, lead and engage people through change journeys
Proven track record of delivering collaboratively and working cross functionally (Finance, ISD, Retail, People, Supply, External Bodies)
Strong Commercial and Financial awareness skills would be advantageous to the role
Able to work at both strategic and functional operational level
Strong Presentation skills and ability to present at all levels
Understanding of Risk Management Principles and approach would be advantageous
