The Role
The SEN Inclusion Commissioner is a key member of SEN Inclusions Team within Standards and Excellence. The role reports to the Inclusions Assistant Commissioner within the Schools and Education Service (SES).
The SES, part of the Schools' Children and Families (SCF) Directorate, will be the 'Champion for Children and Families' and a Commissioner and Enabler of Education within Essex. It will drive the implementation of the council's priorities for education and work with the Strategic Education Board (which will include Headteacher and governor representatives, Academy sponsors representing all
types of Academies, and Diocesan representatives) to build engagement with and agreement to those priorities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Qualified Teacher StatusQualification to degree level or equivalent with a relevant professional/management qualification, membership of a relevant professional body.Experience, knowledge and understanding of legislative frameworks around improved outcomes for pupils with SEN/AENDesired experience of senior management in a school / educational settingCommitment to continued professional developmentEvidence of success in determining and evaluating service quality and identifying opportunities to achieve effectiveness and best valueProven track record of success in working in partnership to effect school improvementKnowledge and understanding of high quality (SEN) leadership and management for inclusionKnowledge and understanding of high quality (SEN) learning and teaching which ensures inclusionKnowledge and understanding of high quality SEN/ inclusive provisionKnowledge and understanding of effective strategies for school improvementEssex County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
