Job purpose

Responsibility for the preparation and submission of tenders, under a variety of forms of procurement, in a consistent and standardised manner in line with business objectives, Company procedures and process. Working as part of a team (or individually as required) with the objective of securing profitable future workload for the business.

Responsibilities

The Estimator duties may include the following:

Thoroughly appraise tender documentation when received to identify risk, opportunity, insufficient information, inadequate or incorrect design; Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries including selection of prospective subcontractors; Attending strategy/opportunity meetings with project team; Attend design team meetings where appropriate; Visit site to identify site specific risks. Prepare T42 report; Liaise with Proposals /Bid Managers where applicable and attend design meetings; Preparing tender Bills of Quantities; Preparation of analytical cost estimates including preliminaries; Adjudication and comparison of sub contractor quotations; Presentation of the cost estimate to senior management at tender settlement meetings; Completion of tender documentation and submission of the tender; Ensure a smooth handover of the project to the site team including attendance at F201 meeting.

Knowledge skills & experience

Construction/Surveying - HND/Degree or similar; Competent use of Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook; Awareness of Industry procurement methods; Estimating software (desirable); Understanding of Whole Life Costs (desirable); Cost Planning awareness (desirable); Experience of analytical building estimating; Familiarity with all forms of contract; Management and organisational experience (desirable); Technical Construction knowledge; Knowledge of current Building Regulations and other industry standards; Understanding of BREEAM (desirable).
