Finance & Commercial Manager

We are currently recruiting for Finance & Commercial Managers to be based in Bourneville, Birmingham.
Role Summary:
To lead on all Finance & Commercial aspects on a portfolio of contracts in a way to ensure success in the short, medium and long-term.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To participate, along with other senior staff in the formulation of contract strategies and plans
To put in place finance strategies and plans for the contracts, aligned to Division and Serco Group, to enable the achievement of business objectives in the short, medium and long-term
To help shape the long-term finance strategy of the Contracts.
To assume full responsibility for the financial and commercial management of the contracts and the achievement of financial and commercial objectives
To review and report on the financial and commercial performance of the contracts against all objectives including growth, profit, cash, budgets and resource utilization targets
To ensure accurate monthly financial reporting and monthly cash flow forecasting
To prepare and submit quarterly forecast data and annual budget data on a bottom up basis
To review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure they are true and accurate
To ensure appropriate corporate governance is in place and that the Contract fully meets financial, legal and statutory obligations
To work closely with the off-shored Shared Service Centre to maximize the benefit to be gained from internal outsourcing
To participate in senior level contract negotiation on behalf of the contracts and ensure all contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers and partners create long term value for business.
To act as a champion of continual business improvement through incremental change and innovation such that the company is competitive in its chosen markets and recognized for value for money
To provide professional advice to the contract managers ensuring best practice policies and procedures are followed.
To provide leadership to the Contract such that all employees within the finance teams understand and adopt the strategy and plans and are motivated to achieve their objectives
To ensure the economies of scale and best practice from across Serco are utilized within the contract and facilitate the exchange of expertise to other parts of Serco
To ensure best practice financial/commercial policies, procedures processes and systems are in place which are aligned within Division and to those in place across Serco Group as appropriate
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA
Experience being a financial lead of large business / contract
SAP experience desirable but not essential; Advanced Excel and other MS Office products
Commercially astute and tenacious in ensuring desired outcome in negotiations
Ability to meet demanding deadlines
Good written, oral communication & presentation skills
Attention to detail with accuracy of financial data being key
Ability to interpret variances and trends in financial data and relate to operational performance
Ability to work in a matrix organization
