My client is looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer for a 12 months contract maybe longer.

ROLE OUTLINE:
Reporting to and working with the Bridges Team Leader, the Principal / Senior Engineer will have extensive relevant experience, including a proven record of working on a variety of bridge and civil engineering structures; as designer and lead designer. He or she will have established a good reputation within this discipline, operating in both highways and rail markets. It will be expected that the candidate will be familiar with feasibility, outline design, detailed design, contract preparation and implementation of a wide range of bridge and civil engineering structure projects. He or she will be chartered or approaching chartered status having worked under an approved training scheme.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Setting and reviewing objectives, targets and performance of a small team
Management of relationships with key customers, suppliers and contacts relevant to team
Providing professional advice and support across the business
Monitors and ensures compliance and KPIs
Day-to-day supervision / line management of team / department
Management of projects within time, cost and quality constraints and standards
Estimating, pricing and delivering against work targets
Client liaison

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Proven experience in chosen field
Supervisory / some line management experience
Knowledge of management tools and techniques
Knowledge of relevant legislation and its application
Understanding and operation of management systems for quality, financial and project controls

Specific requirements:
Able to demonstrate recent experience, knowledge and understanding of current DMRB bridge design standards and Highways Agency approval and certification procedures. Experience of the use of Eurocodes for bridge design would be an advantage.
Experienced at working as part of an integrated design team preferably in an ECI or D&B environment.
Experienced in the successful delivery of packages of allocated structures to programme and cost.
Degree qualified with appropriate professional qualifications and over 8 years post professional qualification industry experience.
Have a full understanding of the relevant bridge design software packages and proficient in their use.
Knowledge and understanding of the design procedures to both BS codes and Eurocodes
Ability to develop innovative and cost effective solutions to the design of bridge structures including buildability and alternative construction methods.
Experienced in the use of Design for Manufacture & Assembly, prefabrication of bridge components and preferably BIM techniques.
Good interpersonal and communication skills essential.
Practical experience of civil engineering works, preferably within a consultancy environment, including:
Bridge / structures design and assessment
Bridge / structures inspection
Drainage and earthworks design and remediation
Surveying / setting out
Experience of managing programmes of work on-time and within budget
Experience of the rail industry
Degree qualified with appropriate professional qualifications and over 8 years post professional qualification industry experience.
Chartered Civil Engineer C Eng. MICE or MIStructE or working towards.
Driving license
