We are currently recruiting a Trainee Buyer to work with the Procurement Team in our Salford office.The individual will form an integral part of our operational procurement function managing the material and sub-contract spend for our Northern Engineering business.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, responsibilities will include:

Gain a thoroughunderstanding of the estimating and procurement process relating to engineering projects.The ability to obtain technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and materials.Build suitablecommercial knowledge to understand how this is important to the procurement process.Ensuring all work is aligned with corporate governance, guidelines and company standards.Assist and support the procurement team.

The ideal candidate will:

Be computer literate, including a good level of proficiency in MS Office programmes.Have strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.The ability to analyse data and interpret results.Whilst not a pre-requisite, having previous experience in a related industry may be beneficial e.g. construction or engineering.

With your strong communication skills you will be comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines and enjoy working within a team environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to develop a long term career in procurement and supply chain management.
