Our client seeks an IT Support Assistant to provide IT support to centrally-and regionally based staff across multiple sites in the UK, assisting in maintenance of central server, networking and desktop infrastructure and assist in the ongoing development of the IT infrastructure.

The IT Support Assistant will provide on-site and remote hardware / software support, support and maintain the LAN/WAN infrastructure in all offices, act as the primary contact for the in-house IT helpdesk and specify, research, recommend and purchase computer equipment.

You will ensure office equipment such as copiers, telephone systems & fax machines are functioning correctly and provide training for such equipment for colleagues.

To be considered candidates will have significant experience of working with PCs, printers and associated hardware and software in a support role, experience of maintaining and troubleshooting local and wide area networks, technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office XP, 2007, 2010 including Outlook, experience of working with a helpdesk or ticketing system in a first or second line support capacity, some technical knowledge of Linux at a server level, knowledge of Windows Server 2008 Administrative Tools and Active Directory and some technical knowledge of Windows Exchange Server 2007, 2010.

Diagnostic and fault-finding skills with ingenuity in fault fixing is essential; where appropriate, travel to other offices in the UK will be r equired.
