Company Overview

The Emergency Scientific and Medical Services (ESMS) division of the Medical Toxicology and Information Services Limited (MTIS ) provide 24 hour telephone information and support services to the pharmaceutical and medical professions. From our offices in central London, we provide:

Clinical trials support. We provide a 24 hour international service for emergency un-blinding and medical information to healthcare professionals caring for patients on clinical trials on behalf of clinical trial organisation (NHS, non-NHS and academic).

Medical information and other related services. We provide daytime, out of hours and emergency medical information services for pharmaceutical companies.


Job Summary

The Business Development Managers role will be focussed on the clinical trials area of the business. The candidate will be tasked with developing and driving forward new business opportunities by acquiring new accounts and/or delivering new solutions to exi sting customers.

The Business Development Managers role is critical to taking the company to the next level, building on the success that the service has enjoyed to date.The successful candidate will be comfortable developing and closing sales opportunities in a professional marketplace.Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate strong presentation and sales skills.

Candidates need experience in a business development or sales role and, ideally, will have a life science background but they do not necessarily need experience in the pharmaceutical or medical products sectors.

The candidate may be expected to travel internationally (mainly within the EU or to the USA) in order to build relationships with existing customers and develop new business where appropriate.


Duties and Responsibilities

Presenting the product or service in a str uctured professional way face to face

Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails

Listening to customer requirements and presenting appropriately to make a sale.

Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales

Creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process that is largely dictated by the prospective customer

Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business

Relationship building

Researching the market and related products

Responding to incoming email and phone enquiries

Attending team meetings and sharing best practice with colleagues


Key Work Experience

Experience of selling in a professional environment

Proven track record of meeting and exceeding financial commitments


Key Personal Requirements

Candidates:

Must be educated to degree level in a life sciences subject

Possess a high degree of self-motivation, honesty and integrity

Will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

Be assertive, dynamic and above all passionate about developing the service

A team player recognising the contribution of other members of the team
