Overall Purpose of Job
To support both the Category Manager & Head of Propositions by executing the category plan whilst interacting on a day to day basis with Product Management, Network, Supply Chain, Channel marketing teams to deliver effective propositions.
Produce and manage the prepay propostion pricebook
Update of the quarterly plan on a monthly, weekly & daily basis incorporating the commercial terms from the network
Work with networks to understand and develop key propositions and support the network team to deliver network term negotiations and implement changes
Co-ordinate Network engagement and support quarterly negotiations.
To use feedback from the channels, market data and sales trends to identify opportunities to grow volume and margin and maximize profit on a monthly, weekly and daily basis.
The role requires hands on management of the implementation of any changes to the proposition with the relevant teams; supply chain, channel and product management teams.
Brief product activations and marketing channel teams on price changes (product and network level) Supports channel team in an appropriate communication to stores on pricing/promotional changes
To support the following measures:
Improve trading margin ( per unit) on the prepay range
Increase sales volume in prepay category
Increase in CPW market share
Work to improve quality within prepay
Develop enhanced/different customer propositions on prepay
Duties & Responsibilities
Commercial Management
Liase with network account managers to ensure propositions are executed in line with new launches and to ensure that monthly commercials are executed as per the network team negotiations
To analyse the performance of the networks, to feed back and to work with them to resolve day to day performance issues whilst working towards maximizing profit from the relationship.
Deliver network quarterly volume targets, in line with negotiations. Includes; specifics at handset level, by network
Participation in quarterly network commercial discussions (including network capacity and commission arrangements), to provide an insight for monthly and weekly re-negotiations
Reviews network contracts and negotiates tactical changes to contract terms
Understand network contracts and assist in negotiations on tactical changes to contract terms
Assist with identifying additional marketing opportunities with networks, in order to unlock marketing funds to s upport incremental profitability
Arrangement and participation in network roadmap sessions.
Forecasting
Participate in and support the quarterly budgeting and forecasting process.
Contribute towards monthly and weekly budgeting and forecasting process providing insight into short fall assessment and opportunities for gap fill
Work with the prepay team on the weekly re-forecasting and on-going amendments to the range. This includes :
o Creating accurate sales and margin forecasts at handset and network level for key business activities (range review, launches, exclusives and other promotions) for all channels
o Creating and reviewing demand forecast
o Overseeing, using and driving the forecasting tools to gain insight into future performance.
Ranging
Work with the Senior Commercial Manager to develop and deliver ranges and pricing for the multi channel pre pay category that will :
o Meet agreed category plans and ensure by working with your Purchasing and Customer Insight counterpart, the best possible customer experience, customer offer design and presentation resulting in products that are fit for purpose for customers across channels
o Achieve the quarterly budgeted category sales and trading margin.
Work with the Senior Commercial Manager to develop and deliver ranges and pricing for the multi-channel pre pay category that will :
o Meet agreed category plans and ensure by working with product management and Customer Insight counterpart, the best possible customer experience, customer offer design and presentation resulting in products that are fit for purpose for customers across channels
o Achieve the quarterly budgeted category sales and trading margin.
Support the Senior Commercial Manager/Category Manager and work with product manager in category listing and promotional decisions on a day to day basis.
Analysing
Co nduct regular and ad-hoc analysis, providing information and insight to support the general growth and development of the category (tracking overall product performance). In particular to understand GFK and CCS Insight data to inform market share and customer insight analysis and challenges.
Conduct detailed day to day network and trading performance analysis to ensure delivery of the category plan in line with expectations.
Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors and customers, generate insights to support the general growth and development of the category. Working closely with your counterpart in Customer Insight.
Monitor performance on all the key performance indicators for the category (including, sales, margin and stock) and provide accurate and timely information, analysis, insight and recommendations to the category team to facilitate effective decision making.
Co-ordinate and consolidate monthly , weekly and period end reporting to include sales, cost of sales & margin
Provide the category team with appropriate information and support pre, during and post category initiatives
Conduct additional ad-hoc analysis, providing information and in sight to support the general growth and development of the category (tracking overall product performance)
