Opportunity
Our client sells super fast satellite broadband services. In 2010 they launched its first GBP100M satellite and in 2012 will launch theyre second with a third and fourth scheduled.
Background
Responsible for undertaking communications systems engineering tasks to support analysis of satellite capacity and performance for all of their satellite fleet, and overall engineering of end-to-end satellite systems. They will have a role in the operations team maintaining close relationships with Regulatory, and Operations teams.
Responsibility
- Satellite Communications Systems engineering ? RF and digital communications;
- Ground Segment Engineering ? design and sizing;
- Communications Payload Engineering;
- Link budget analysis;
- Generation and management of system design requirements;
- Preparation of system design, test, and operations documentation;
- Proposal of recommendations for verification and validation of system requirements;
- Participation in relevant system design, test, and operations reviews and meetings;
- Provide technical support to Operations;
- Development and procurement of adequate design and analysis toolkits for modelling and simulation of end-to-end system performance ;
- Maintain awareness of technology trends and assist in the development of future missions and/or new products and services and be able to outline their architectural implementation;

Skills and Qualifications required
- 2:1 degree in a related field
- Experience in satellite communications systems engineering with knowledge of RF systems design, digital communications, payload engineering, air interface communications standards such as DVB-S2, DVB-RCS and many more
- Link budgeting;
- Solid programming/software engineering skills with good knowledge of MATLAB, Visual Basic, and Java programming environments;
- Experience developing systems design documentation, test plans and procedures, and operational procedures;
- Willingness to travel overseas;
Desirable skills
- Practical experience in the commissioning and testing of satellite systems ? satellite and ground based.
