The company

My client, a leading international law firm, is currently looking to recruit for a Business Development Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Manager to make a real impact on the financial success of the Projects Group by guiding and improving a number of business development and marketing activities across this sector, with a particular emphasis on the development and delivery of consistently high quality, business winning proposals.

R esponsibilities

Working with partners throughout a pitch process to drive the process, challenge our reasons for pitching, help develop sales messages, draft documentation, prepare for beauty parades and guide client team rehearsalsManaging the collection and dissemination of data on our proposals to help identify the reasons for wins and losses, including pitch debriefs, publishing management information and circulating information on pricing and from client feedbackWork with the senior business development manager on the development and coordination of awards and directory submissionsAssisting with the development of the broader projects group BD programme, which will include client targeting initiatives (thought leadership, events, client briefings/seminars and training programmes, etc) and the internal coordination and communication of the programme across practice groups and geographiesTo take responsibility for proposals undertaken by the team driving the process, l iaising with the appropriate partners and members of the BD team, bringing best practice, drafting and reviewing text from a sales perspective and coaching others on tactics and actionsTo take responsibility for enforcing & maintaining consistency in proposals related know-how, including standard descriptions of our capabilities in product lines, deal descriptions and deal sheetsTo coordinate win/loss reviews for important proposals and share best practice by organising training and proposal retrospective sessionsTo report on proposal activity, tracking trends and win/loss review themes in order to develop our approach to winning businessTo work with the Finance team to provide guidance, both in terms of advice and information, to help pitch teams make effective pricing decisionsWorking with client teams to identify cross practice and cross geography opportunities and encouraging partners and fee earners to follow up and capitalise on these opportunities.Management and deliv ery of externally and internally targeted events, seminars and briefings promoting the Projects Group.

The person

Previous experience within the legal or professional services sectorSolid experience of working on proposalsOutstanding communications skills, with the ability to write accurate and compelling business development materialsEnthusiasm and drive in an often pressured environmentThrives on deadlines with an ability to flex agreed processes appropriately to meet tight time framesStrong project management skills communicating actions, progress and concerns promptly and regularlyGood interpersonal skills can challenge and coach partners.Experience in all elements of the marketing and business development mix
