This major Telecoms company have a large team of dedicated Engineers working hard to develop and test their products and services. They focus on quality of service, sustainability and product delivery. They therefore utilise a vigorous software development life-cycle. With an agile delivery team working in two week sprints.

In this Software Architect roleyouwill work within the architecture team to design high quality technical solutions to business requirements. The architects work with product ow ners, software developers, quality assurance and other stakeholders within the organisation, to develop architectural designs for software solutions in the companies BSS (Business Support System) application portfolio.

The BSS cover a range of applications and their functions include calculating the cost of a call, producing a bill, managing customer accounts, taking payments, communicating with the network, etc. The role does not include any work on mobile devices.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities for the Software Architect :-
Develop architectural designs for software solutions to meet business requirements.
Produce architectural designs that are robust, flexible, scalable, maintainable and secure.
Provide high-level development estimates for upcoming projects.
Build prototype and proof of concept systems.
Work with the rest of the delivery team to provide guidance and ensure that best practices techniques are being imple mented.

Skills and Experience Required
The Software Architect should be able to:

Demonstrate a minimum of five years development experience in a full lifecycle environment.
Excellent understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle across various development methodologies, in particular with an agile approach.
The Software Architect shoul be able to demonstrate hands on experience of architecting enterprise scale solutions, ideally in a SOA environment.
Demonstrate hands on experience of working on projects that involve integration and migration components.
The Software Architect should be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in object-oriented analysis, object-oriented design & development in a .NET server-side environment.
Have a strong understanding of design patterns and architectural best practices.
Proven experience of working with web services including WCF.
Proven experience of worki ng with an ESB or integration technology.
Experience of working in a TDD environment.
Strive to continuously improve the development process.
Show enthusiasm and passion for technology and be keen to learn new skills.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
Capable of thinking in a strategic manner.
Desirable Skills and Experience
It is desirable that you have experience with SOME of the following tools and technologies:

RDBMS database design and optimisation including the use of an ORM.
Experience of using a Source control system.
Experience of using a continuous integration platform.
Experience of using automated deployment technology.
Ability to illustrate designs using UML.
Experience working with JIRA issue tracking system or similar.
Exposure to a Telco environment nice but not essential.
