You will be accountable for creating cost estimates, for both recurring and non recurring costs, on time and to the right quality. The cost estimates will be for all aircraft programmes and will be used to support new project business cases, bid analysis, supplier claims and target setting.

Description of the job
A vacancy has arisen for a Cost Engineer for Aircraft Systems to be based on the Filton site (Bristol). As the successful candidate you will produce detailed and accurate cost estimates and cost expertise for aircraft systems and equipment, including Landing Gear/Landing Gear systems, Fuel and Inerting systems. You will be accountable for creating cost estimates, for both recurring and non recurring costs, on time and to the right quality. The cost estimates will be for all aircraft programmes and will be used to support new project business cases, bid analysis, supplier claims and target setting.

Tasks
As the successful candidate your main activities will include:
Prepare and produce cost estimates against a set of costing rules and assumptions, utilising and developing a variety of costing methodologies, tools and processes
Be accountable for the integrity and consistency of the cost estimates related to Wing, Landing Gear and Fuel systems on all aircraft programs
Provide task leadership and be accountable for the delivery of results to cost, quality and time within a single work team managing the estimating tasks on a day to day basis
Lead a team of up to 3 people; overseeing and reviewing estimates produced
Support procurement in supplier negotiation with costing expertise

Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Extensive experience of design and manufacturing processes for Aircraft equipment or a related discipline
A relevant Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
Knowledge of Landing Gear and Fuel systems from a design perspective
Experience in the field of either Aircraft systems, Electronics or Hydraulic actuation systems or Automotive systems
IT literate - must have good knowledge of using Spreadsheets
Cost estimate experience desirable but not essential as training can be given
Project Management experience would be an advantage
English fluency
Be willing to travel for business purposes

Work Experience
Mid-career (5+ to 10 years of experience)
