Assurance & Advisory
Our Assurance & Advisory team provides an expert service to many types of organisations across the world. Our clients range from small owner-managed businesses to listed companies, partnerships, charities and government bodies; and we cover a broad spectrum of industries and sectors.
Key services include statutory audit, non-statutory audit, compilation of financial statements, assurance engagement, business risk services, Sarbanes Oxley assurance and international accounting standards.
Principal duties:
* Participate in preparation of accounts.
* To work on clients premises on an ad hoc basis to complete accounts preparation assignments and produce financial statements, and assist in audits including:-
* Gathering of audit evidence through communication and interaction with client staff
* Ensure audit files have all relevant documentation on the appropriate section; check appropriate and sufficient documentation obtained to support the opinion and documenting all conclusions;
* Active adherence to budget and timetable, bringing matters to the attention of the senior or manager, particularly when actual time is in excess of budget;
* Involvement in the planning, execution and finalisation of the audit assignment supporting the Senior or Manager;
* Ensure compliance with internal (audit methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements;
* Draft reports covering financial statements, client business issues, systems and controls and other issues in the engagement plan.
* Identifies risk matters and raises them with a senior, manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
* Produce work for the senior, Manager and/or Partner review clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions to issues identified.
Education / Qualifications:
Graduate calibre
Part qualified ACA/ CA
Experience / Skills:
* Experience of working in a professional firm.
* Able to approach projects logically, with good numerical skills.
* An attention to detail and accuracy is necessary and an essential part of the role.
* The ability to prioritise and deal with a variety of cases in a methodical manner.
* Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
* Book keeping and double entry accounting knowledge and experience within commerce or practice.
* Computer literate with experience of IT packages including MS Excel, Word, email, Sage.
* The post holder will have a confident manner, an enthusiastic approach and demonstrate commercial awareness
* Demonstrate an ability to work either independently or as part of a team
* A flexible and adaptable approach is essential
* Full driving licence is an advantage
* Good standard of education to degree level (or equivalent)
