This apprenticeship is available to all age groups; however full government funding is only available to 16-24 year olds.

The Apprenticeship:

Working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care, you will be supported by an Assessor in completing your Apprenticeship.

Your Qualification will consist of:

A competence based qualification (Diploma)

A knowledge based qualification (Technical Certificate)

Key skills are a requirement of every framework, these include Literacy and Numeracy (learners may be required to complete other key skills depending on the framework they undertake)

The Opportunity:

A vacancy has arisen for an Apprentice Care Assistant based in Leicester. Whilst completing your apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience and perform a variety of duties, which will aid you in completing your qualification.

An essential part of the role will be to:

Assist Residents to get in and get out of bed.Assist in providing a happy and caring atmosphere and be involved in the general activities of the Home;Provide physical care along the lines of bathing, personal care, toileting, caring, and entertaining;

Among other duties you may be expected to carry out the following tasks:

Assess each residents needs and progress;Create a safe and positive learning environment;Provide leisure and creative opportunities;Liaise with residents families;Work in cooperation with other healthcare professionals;

The Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience in this sector is not essential; however, the ideal apprentice must show a strong drive and determination to succeed. Good organisational skills and timekeeping, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn will stand you in good stead to succeed in this apprenticeship. As this role focuses on patient centred care, a passion for providing high quality care to the elderly/vulnerable is desirable. Excellent personal presentation. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to prioritise their time effectively, identify their own learning needs and take steps to meet those needs, create a positive learning environment and attend any training as required.

The Essentials:

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week. Work 5 days out of 7. Hours; 8-2pm & 2-8pm

Salary: 2.60 per hour (national minimum wage for apprentices)
