Working in such a fast-moving environment, our support services need to be as dynamic as the betting markets themselves.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our Server Operations Team based in Leeds. The successful applicant will be required to provide leadership and coaching of the Server Operations Team to ensure that Business as usual and project delivery work streams are maintained to a high standard. Focus will also be concentrated on server/process/task automation to increase the efficiency of the department and to implement service improvement. This role also requires building relationships with internal IS functions, external contractors and suppliers while also maintaining a highly technical and hands-on approach. Utilizing available tools to manage capacity and availability within the server and storage infrastructure and produce relevant reporting.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Utilising latest technologies and strong scripting skills to assist Server Operations Team in infrastructure standardisation

Ensuring the consistent and reliable performance of the infrastructure to deliver the required level of service to the business and partners whilst feeding into Monitoring and Event Management

Active participation in BCP/DR activities and testing. Providing input into these processes.

Control and maintenance of the access controls and permissions within the relevant server environment(s) as well as appropriate system and physical security measures

Definition of policies and working with Architecture to recommend/implement technologies to benefit the business and improve infrastructure

Essential criteria:

Experience in leading a team of technical staff

Proven track record in automation of server builds and patching

Strong practical experience in administration of UNIX and Windows operating systems

Scripting skills in perl, vbscript, shell and various scripting languages

OS security hardening concepts and practice

Understanding of standard network services including TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP and DNS

Good working knowledge of ITIL processes

Demonstrates the skills and abilities to conduct performance reviews and appraisals with staff
