The Needle Punch Operator will operate machinery and equipment to stitch-bond synthetic fibres to scrim (webbing) to produce nonwoven fabric: Turns dials on control panel to regulate conveyor speeds, feed rate of scrim and fibre stock through machine, roll pressure, and steam in rollers. Adjust compression rollers following thickness specifications. Start machine and observe operations to detect defects, for example broken needles, folds or lines in webbing, and fabric contamination. Move mechanism on hopper to regulate flow and weight of fibre stock feeding into machine and replaces broken needles using hand tools. Duties will also include:
Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected
Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.
Perform minor repairs to machines, such as replacing damaged or worn parts.
Read gauges and charts, and record data obtained.
Record information such as the number of products tested, meter readings, and dates and times of product production.
The Needle Punch Operator will have good communication skills, basic Engineering knowledge and be keen to learn new skills & progress in the business. Experience of working in a 24/7, shift rota, factory environment, knowledge/background of Needle Punch or Plastic Extrusion, Forklift License and First Aider
