Senior Construction Planner
Job purpose
To manage the planning and programming function and provide advice on planning and programming matters within the Business Unit and to provide construction planning and programming input for projects at prequalification, tender and contract stage by developing an accurate assessment of sequence, methodology and time.
Responsibilities
Managing the planning and programming function and providing advice on planning and programming matters within the Business Unit.Preparing programmes, method statements, phasing / sequencing drawings and other supporting information at prequalification and tender stage.The preparation of Preliminaries including staffing, accommodation, scaffolding, plant and craneage etc.Liaising with senior managers, bid managers, estimators, designers, temporary works department and specialist subcontractors as necessary.Prepare and/or contribute to proposal documents if required.Providing assistance with the preparation of presentation material and attending interviews if required.At contract stage prepare contract programmes and work with site teams to prepare construction and procurement programmes.Provide on-going support to site teams to update programmes and provide input into the preparation of detailed site programmes when required.Provide planning and software training and support as appropriate.
Knowledge skills & experience
Experience in a related planning role at tender and contract stages on a wide range of projects. Experience of working on site in a planning or management role. Keen interest in and a broad in-depth knowledge of building construction techniques and methodology. Educated to degree level in a relevant field. Suitable level of safety training and to hold an appropriate CSCS card. Membership of a professional body is encouraged (desirable).

The ability to absorb and assimilate project information quickly and to demonstrate clarity of thought in developing and presenting solutions within rigid time frames.The ability to produce programmes by analytical means using tried and tested production rates.The ability to work independently and manage own workload as well as being able to work efficiently as part of a team.The ability to think laterally and apply innovative solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively and confidently with personnel within the company as well as clients, industry professionals and subcontractors.Excellent knowledge of and experience of using Asta Powerproject and Microsoft Project software.Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office suite of software.The ability to manage/co-ordinate bids if required.Training can be provided to improve specific skill levels if necessary.Additional job board text
