Motor Claims Technical Manager

AXA Personal Lines Motor Claims has a commitment to unlock your potential to achieve brilliance and we have an opening for an experienced Motor Claims Technical Manager to be based in Birmingham.
This role will encompass managing all the technical aspects of claims handling for AXA Personal Lines Intermediary Motor product lines to ensure that AXA can boast the best Motor Claims business in the UK market by the end of 2012.
You will manage a portfolio of large and complex personal injury claims (minimum potential value of 250,000, but with a significant exposure to claims in excess of 1m) efficiently and cost-effectively for the Company through comprehensive investigation into policy liability, legal liability and quantum using external suppliers where necessary.
Also, you will be responsible for the development of staff and to the delivery of a large loss specific strategy so Leadership qualities would also be beneficial.
As part of this role, you will
Continually develop & implement innovative and market leading technical claims processes that evolve with the changing legislative landscape including operational technical claims decision making (Leakage), indemnity supply chain (e.g. Panel Solicitors and other Suppliers), recoveries (including third party liability recovery), fraud, salvage etc Define claims decision making policy for all PLI Motor Claims Develop and use data to measure and drive improved indemnity control performance Drive continuous improvement in technical decision making quality, i.e Ensure technical learning points from OFR, CFR & QA are incorporated into PLI Motor Claims process Work closely as a team with Customer Service Manager and Claims Change Manager to ensure that Claims experience drives improvements throughout the insurance value chain, including product wordings and IT solutions Provide Technical input to PLI Motor Claims Operations, Supplier Management, Change and Audit/Controls functions Ensure that the Technical requirements and expectations across the other areas of PLI Motor Claims are clearly defined and implemented Contribute to Opponent Specific Strategies e.g. but not limited to CHOs, TPIs, Claimant Solicitors
Management of large loss and contentious claims Engage with Technical Underwriting, Actuarial, Re-insurers and PR in making technical decisions and executing them Work with complaints team to ensure that FOS positions feedback into stage 2 complaint decisions so that we are deliberate in which cases we allow to go to the FOS Work closely with Direct Motor Claims Technical Manager to monitor performance and alignment of processes
Skills, knowledge and behaviour
CII qualification or similar with broad experience in a claims environment and significant experience in dealing with large and complex claims with a strong commitment to proactivity and customer service
Strong experience across all elements of technical claims, technical claims management and people management is essential.
Additionally, you will have strong large Loss Claims management as well as project management experience.
