Purpose of JobWork as a junior member of the London Energy Investment Baking team, and the broader CIBC Global Energy Group, primarily on the origination and execution of corporate mergers and acquisitions, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and capital markets transactions. The role will focus primarily on the oil & gas sector, but also more broadly in the energy, natural resources / metals & mining sectors also.Main ObjectivesWork closely with senior & junior Energy team members, in London and across the organisation, to assist in the origination and execution of primarily corporate mergers and acquisitions, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and capital markets transactions. As appropriate, liaise with internal CIBC teams including M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Credit Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange and Commodities, as well as, external client groups. Undertake industry research and analysis. Undertake company specific analysis and valuations. Undertake the creation of financial models to analyse potential corporate mergers and acquisitions, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and financings. Assist in the preparation of marketing materials including presentation books and analysis, and as appropriate assisting in formal client presentations.Skills / Knowledge RequiredStrong interpersonal skills. Strong team player. Ability to analyse information and formulate responses to strategic and financial issues. Ability to work independently on multiple projects and to strict deadlines. Advanced Excel modelling, Word and PowerPoint skills. Two years of Energy sector experience (specifically in Oil & Gas, although additional experience in energy and resources would be beneficial) from a leading investment bank. Experience of UK and international transactions. Undergraduate degree (business or finance) with minimum 2:1 or equivalent from a top-tier university. Existing FSA registration. PREFERRED BACKGROUNDA strong technical background developed through the successful completion of a graduate training programme at a leading UK based investment bank. Experience working on the origination and execution of energy sector transactions in Europe, Middle East and Africa
