The Packaging Innovation team are seeking a Packaging Technologist to effectively manage packaging development as part of major capital investment projects and packaging innovation. You will work closely with the relevant capital project teams, marketing and sales teams, creative agencies, packaging suppliers, contract packing organisations, purchasing and production facilities. The role is UK based and primarily focused, though some foreign travel will be required.
Responsabilities in this role will include managing packaging development activities up to project handover, ensuring the end-to-end suitability of solutions. You will work with suppliers, creative agencies and other contacts to develop a range of creative options for packaging that challenge current thinking, working with cross functional teams to ensure successful delivery of packaging development projects. You will develop and maintain engagement throughout the development lifecycle by building positive relationships whilst carrying out work within the NPD process from concept to launch to successfully implement packaging innovation projects. This role will also include developing technical specifications for packaging, ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will ideally be degree level qualified in a science or engineering discipline and you will have a diploma in packaging technology as a minimum. You will have significant packaging development experience within an FMCG / beverage / food markets, having a good understanding of print processes, packaging and its functionality, performance and sustainability requirements. Experience of working within an R&D environment and innovation process would be a distinct advantage. You will have excellent IT skills with ideally specific knowledge of CAPE, MS Project and MS Office. You will be able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders within a matrix organization, and influence others whilst having the resilience to deliver without excessive guidance.
