Description of the job
A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Test Instrumentation Lead Designer to be based on the Filton site near Bristol.

Tasks
As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:

- Liaising with Flight Test Design Teams in the UK, France, Germany, Spain
- Ensuring that the systems installation meets requirements, can be easily accessed and maintained
- Guiding RSP (Risk Sharing Partners) and Design Houses to produce designs and meet deadlines to Airbus requirements
- Liaising closely with the Supplier or Vendor of any project to ensure that the Flight Test instrumented equipment meets requirements, can be easily accessed and maintained
- Ensuring the location of the Flight Test systems must be such that the overall integrity meets all Particular Risks
- Guiding small teams to produce design solutions
- Ensuring commonality across project within Flight Test electrical circuits and mechanical Installation Design
- Assisting in defines needs in development of new instrumentation and technologies
- Assisting in Aircraft inspections, safety reviews and design reviews
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Systems Installation Design Principles for each aircraft programme
- Supporting the Flight Test Design teams through Maturity Reviews
- Assisting in recruitment, training and ongoing development of all Flight Test Instrumentation staff
- Responsible for ensuring that the airworthiness requirements in relation to Flight Test Installation are met
- Responsible for producing summaries and detailed presentations when required

Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

- Extensive experience working in the field of aircraft Flight Test System Installation Design
- A sound knowledge of systems installation requirements and principles
- An in-depth understanding of aircraft production methods and processes
- Knowledge of cost effective design
- Working knowledge of CATIA v5 and EWB
- Preferably possess a degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
- A broad understanding of airframe structural design and general systems installation
- Knowledge of SEEXP and CIRCE would be desirable
- A team player with high regard for internal and external customers
