Description of the job
The successful applicant will report to the Engineering Team Leader and the role involves the analysis of aircraft structure using the standard fatigue and crack growth methods. The applicant will aid in developing design solutions within the Single Aisle Wing Structures CPD team in Airbus UK.
The engineer will carry out fatigue, crack growth and residual strength calculations to assess design solutions using standard hand and computer methods and will be expected to liaise with the Methods and Data group in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments. In this position the engineer will support on-going local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods and process improvements. The role will require a strong focus upon deliverables and timescales to support our external and internal customers.

Tasks & accountabilities
As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:-
F&DT certification activities.
Justification for New weight variants.
Support to Production.
Support to Certification / Airworthiness activities.
Support to/Attend the Maintenance Review Board (MRB).
Support Chief Engineers Office in Product Development Tasks.
Assist the Chief of F&DT in team technical development.
Assist the Chief of F&DT with managing delegated signatures to the supply chain.

Your skills
Required skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:-
Proven experience working as an engineer, preferably in the aircraft industry, involved in fatigue and crack growth analysis of metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods is desired.
In addition, an understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for fatigue and crack growth and an ability to develop these methods would be expected. Engineers would also be expected to have an ability to assess structural analysis problems.
Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis and an understanding of aircraft production methods and processes would be beneficial.
Experience of PC and mainframe computer systems would be expected.
A team player with a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle is expected.
In addition, an ability to develop junior engineers would be expected.
