Job Purpose & Context
The Serco Global Technology Delivery (SGTD) business is being created to provide an integrated IS delivery capability that is fit for the future and supports Sercos strategic ambition to become the Worlds Greatest Service company. This is a new organisation within Serco and is in response to changing market conditions and the need to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness in IT delivery.
IT service delivery for both internal and external customers will be consolidated into the SGTD organisation. This organisation will be designed to have global scope and capability. The focus during 2012 will be on rapid integration and transformation of the existing IS shared services units within the UK and the establishment of a core network of delivery partners, both on-shore and off-shore.
SGTD will provide a full scope of IT services including infrastructure operations, applications maintenance and support, applications development and IT service management. SGTD will also manage pools of project and architecture resources, directly supporting bid teams and the transition/transformation of new and existing contracts.
The Operational Risk Manager will be responsible for ensuring SGTD is adequately controlled through the application of appropriate risk management processes within the IT Service Delivery function.
They will liaise closely with the Safety, Risk & Compliance function who will provide non-IT specific risk management services, and with the Global IT Risk and Assurance function to ensure SGTD risk management is in compliance with the applicable IT/IS Serco Management System (SMS) policies and standards.
Key Duties & Responisbilities
Ensure risks & issues are effectively managed across SGTDdefining acceptable levels of risk and effectively communicating the SGTD approach to risk and issue management
Develop an appropriate SGTD governance framework for the management of risks and issues within acceptable tolerance levels
Take active ownership of the SGTD Risk Register, ensuring active management of escalation of risks across SGTD
Input to the Business Unit, Contract and wider Serco risk registers as necessary in relation to risk and issues associated with the use of IT
Liaise across the SGTD Senior Management Group to ensure an adequate understanding and documentation of risks and issues is taking place
Work with Professional Services organisation to assess Project Risk Registers ensuring consistent treatment of project risks including escalation to appropriate levels of Management
Work with the Head of Commercial Procing & Trading to ensure our commercial governance adequately assesses and takes account of risks
Liaise with the Safety, Risk and Compliance function for guidance on methodology and approach, submitting SGTD Risk and Issues reporting, as required
Actively support and promote service excellence, constantly seeking ways to improve the service to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
Essential skills
Proven knowledge/ use of Risk Management Tools; CRAMM
Experience of working within a risk managment role, ideally within an IT professional environment or similar business
Excellent understanding of IT Risk and Issue Management
Knowledge of RIsk and Issue Management methodologies
Good stakeholder management capabilities and able to build trusting relationships with business Managers and peers within the IT function
Has credibility when dealing with Senior Managers, with the ability to influence service design to meet service continuity requirements
A good knowledge of standard IT service and delivery operations; able to assess the robustness of processes and assess risk management
Degree level qualification or equivalent professional qualification
