The Solicitors Regulation Authority sets professional standards for solicitors in England and Wales and regulates solicitors, their law practices and staff in the public interest. It is also a licensing body for alternative business structures.
Our Legal & Enforcement Directorate deals with proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, appeals, judicial reviews and a wide range of litigation in the High Court and other civil and criminal courts. It also delivers high quality advice on legal and evidential matters to other functions across the organisation. The directorate is currently seeking to increase substantially its numbers of legal advisors and senior legal advisors and is seeking to recruit a motivated and dynamic professional support lawyer to assist in the effective delivery of the directorate's functions.
In this newProfessional Support Lawyerposition, you will be responsible for the strategic implementation and maintenance of a know database and for the dissemination of legal knowledge to the directorate, as well as to other functions of the SRA and to external lawyers instructed on our behalf. You will prepare case summaries and updates on legislation, undertake research on points of law and prepare and deliver high quality training on legal developments and new legislation relevant to the SRA's wide ranging functions. A key requirement of the role is to promote the development of a centralised organised e-library to support the change from paper-based to electronic information usage, motivating change and to introduce more effective ways of working
Working closely with our technical experts within the SRA, you will be a qualified solicitor or barrister, or someone with significant equivalent experience of information services in a regulatory environment. You will be IT literate and also familiar with online legal information services such as Lexis Nexis and Lawtel.
