Description of the job
A vacancy has arisen for a Static Stress Engineer within the Wing Centre of Excellence to be based at Airbus UK on the Filton site (Bristol)
In conjunction with the other members of the multi-disciplinary Long Range team, the successful candidate will be able to attain a level of signature delegation after an appropriate level of development to enable you to carry out stress analysis on Long Range Product structural.
The structure covered is mainly the metallic wingbox and secondary composite panels on the Long Range (A330 / A340 / A3456) .
The work will involve liaising with Fatigue & Damage Tolerance, Design and other appropriate Airbus departments in Filton and other Transnational partners, such as Bremen, Toulouse, to come up with optimum design solutions for the Long Range Programme, the customer .
Tasks
As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:-
Carrying out static stressing calculations to assess design solutions by static stress calculations to assess design solutions for a range of tasks, ranging from modifications to manufacturing concessions against the Aircraft Design requirements, new product developments using standard hand and computer methods.
Other tasks will include:
Interrogating drawing systems, raising and co-ordination of documentation.
Supporting on-going local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods and process improvements.
Providing a platform for the continued and future development of the Static Stress Team
Liaising with specialists to ensure fatigue and damage tolerance requirements are met.
Liaising with other functions and project to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated.
Assisting in the structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality.
Reporting critical technical issues up through functional management.
Supporting on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements.
Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
HNC/HND/Degree qualification and a good understanding of working in an engineering environment.
Static analysis of aircraft structures working as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
An understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for static stressing and an ability to develop these methods, using computer programmes and analytical methods.
Good PC skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Good interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables and prioritise accordingly.
