Health Coach - Office Based Clinical Role
The purpose of the Health Coach is toprovide clinical support, guidance and information toBupa members to empower and enable them to make the best use of health care services and assist them to obtain the most appropriate treatment. You will coach individuals to become more knowledgeable about their health and make informed health choices and will also act as a clinical support to other non clinical and clinical staff members, and other business areas within Bupa. This is a telephony based role and involves making outbound calls to members to introduce the service, engage them onto the programme and support them to make treatment plans. The health needs of the members youll be supporting are mainly chronic conditions, such as musculoskeletal conditions, cardiac care and oncology; these are preference sensitive conditions, where members have a choice of treatments. This is a high profile and exciting team to work on, its a developing service and your feedback will be invaluable in shaping future services.
Working hours
35 hours a week- ideally 5 days per week, although 4 days a week could also be accommodated.Your shifts will vary.
The department is open from 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm on Saturdays
Youll work varying shifts of 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm, 11am-7pm and 12pm-8pm
Saturday morning working is typically once per month
Key responsibilities
Working in a Telephony team, this role is 100 telephony based, wearing a headset.Effectively questioning members, to understand the nature of their health needs.Listening, reading and assessing online information regarding treatments.Calling the member, talking through their treatment with them and discussing treatment options.Offering unbiased support and information tailored to the members health needs, whether their treatment is covered by Bupa or not.Using the approved clinical resources to provide health information and support your decision making.Making the initial call to a member to introduce the service and then managing the case by making regular contact with the member on an ongoing basis.Documenting all calls according to departmental format including citation of supporting references and notation of all topics discussed and plans made.Taking inbound calls from internal Bupa colleagues from the specialist teams, supporting with referrals on mental health, oncology, back and cardiac care. Researching topics, from approved clinical information resources in order to provide adequate information to support members. Demonstrating flexibility and being an active member of an innovative team.Adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Ensuring all calls are managed within Bupa guidelines and approved working practices to provide a consistent approach with other health care professionals. Being aware of clinical research and best practice via approved resources. Working to team targetsSkills and Experience
Youll be a registered Nurse and could be currently working in a variety of clinical establishments, a Hospital, GPs practice, a community based role, NHS Direct, etc
You dont need a specific clinical specialism for this role.
Registered Nurse with appropriate clinical experience Currentregistration and fulfil NMC and PREP requirements Recent clinical nursing experience is desirable but not essentialGood understanding of the Health Care industryAbility to demonstrate a high level of clinical nursing knowledgeAbility to makecustomer callswith confidence and overcome objectionsResilience and self motivation.
