Description of the job
The Wing & Pylon CoE - Engineering (TWE), require a number of Lead Stress Engineers to work across programmes to support the required ramp up of the A350 XWB Programme.
Tasks
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following:
- Either directly, or via team, carry out static stress calculations to assess design solutions for a whole range of tasks, ranging from concept design to manufacturing Concessions against the Aircraft Design requirements
- Liaise with other functions and project to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated
- Operate as an approval signatory for stress
- Assist in the structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality
- Resolve critical technical issues through functional management
- Ensure methods and processes are followed and support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements
- Provide technical leadership and approval for team members, new participants; supply base and other sub-contracted work
- Liaise with fatigue and damage tolerance to ensure requirements are met
- When required, undertake appropriate, associated project management tasks.
Your skills
As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Substantial experience working as a stress engineer involved in the analysis of structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods
- Knowledge of composite materials would be of benefit.
- The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members
- The ability to develop and coach less experienced stress engineers
- Aeronautical Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer or equivalent
- Signatory Level or capability within 3 months
- Excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written English
- A pro-active approach to problem solving and the ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
