Opex Finance (Accountant) Analyst - Overview
As Opex Finance (Accountant) Analyst, you will be responsible for accurately forecasting, reporting and analysing the performance of British Gas Business (BGB) Customer Operational Spend (Opex). You will support the Commercial Finance Manager in analysing and investigating variances in the costs to BG of meter reading services.
Base salary : Up to 35,000 (experience related) + Bonus + Benefits (package to c. 40,000) Location: Leeds (LS12 2UE) OPEX represents significant costs to BGB at around 36.6m and is currently subject to high scrutiny as the business transfers a significant portion of its operation to a third party off-shore supplier. There will be opportunities report upwards by leading the finance management reporting at the respective management team meetings, providing decision support and communicating and explaining variances within finance Opex Finance (Accountant) Analyst - The Role
Accurate and timely reporting of OPEX KPIs, and communicating key business issues to senior management- providing challenge to results Analyse and investigate variances from plan on e.g. manpower related costs Lead reporting, forecasting and analysing of actual results for OPEX and provide input into the OPEX strategy Partner with BGB Customer Operations team to provide robust financial insight and enable key business decisions to be taken. Own and manage the in-month forecasting process, ensuring trends are identified quickly and communicated to the operations for action (eg debt collection agency costs). Ownership of controls in the both the Finance and Operations area and ensure adherence to and documentation of relevant policies and procedures. Opex Finance (Accountant) Analyst - The Person
Technical/Educational: Part qualified finance professional (ACA, CIMA, ACCA); Proven track record in financial control and financial planning Experience: The successful candidate will be required to interact with the Business Partners and Finance Management to accurately reflect the changing nature of costs in regular reporting, forecasting and decision making. Relationship: Engage and build good relationships with operational management; Team player; Able to work on cross functional initiatives Leadership: Great communication skills both written and verbal; Able to explain the intricacies of opex to a senior management audience Key Success Factors: Guiding and challenging the business to deliver a step change in performance in order to meet opex targets ; Challenge status quo and continuously strive to improve performance; Accurate and timely reporting & planning of financial information and other key performance metrics ; Maintain a robust control environment with effective process and documented policies Opex Finance (Accountant) Analyst- The Company
