A vacancy has arisen for a Process Engineer to the join MEL Chemicals Manchester site. Working as part of the global Research and Development team in the area of zirconium and other inorganic chemicals, the successful candidate will work closely with research, development and process chemists to bring new products and processes to commercialisation.

For this post, it is essential to have experience in chemical engineering as you will be taking products and processes developed initially in the laboratory through to pilot plant scale with a view towards rapid scale up to full commercial manufacture.

The successful candidate will be part of a cross functional team involving both USA and UK personnel and will be involved in designing new equipment and modifying existing equipment.

The successful candidate will:

Ideally hold a PhD qualification; or a BSC in chemical engineering or chemistry with chemical engineering plus a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills

Have good problem solving skills

Excellent cost awareness

Work with the global scale up team to bring research programmes to commercial success

The position offers an attractive package with 25 days paid holiday plus all statutory holidays together with options to join the company pension scheme. The starting salary will be between 26,500 and 33,000 depending on experience. In addition to this there is an annual bonus scheme linked to company performance. Relocation packages can be negotiated where applicable.
