Linux Systems Administrator

The Platforms Linux systems administrator is responsible for ensuring all Linux based environments achieve maximum availability via proactive monitoring and maintenance.This is achieved by utilising established procedures and creating new procedures where required to enable tasks to be automated and improved upon in line with a continual service improvement model.

In addition to maintaining stable environments you will be responsible for software updates, patching, troubleshooting and investigating possible opportunities to improve efficiency.

Working within an ITIL framework including stringent change control processes.

Skills required;

Full understanding of protocols (eg TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, BIND)

Strong Shell scripting skills

Vi

P-Series experience desirable

This technical experience will be coupled with an enthusiasm for Linux, an exposure to ITIL the ability to work with highly technical people, excellent analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
