Senior Buyer (Construction/Rail)

Location: London

Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 plus car allowance, pension & benefits

Job Profile:

As a member of the Regional Procurement Team, you will contribute towards the development and maintenance of an industry - leading procurement process. Provide specialist procurement expertise to projects, manage defined key suppliers (both regionally and as a national Product Manager), and control the quality of orders placed by the business .

Skills & Experience:

Procurement experience in the project engineering or broader construction industry

Any experience within Rail engineering environments would be beneficial but not essential

Awareness of the complete subcontract and supply procurement cycle, including the strategic supply-base management, negotiation, contracting and disputes management, transactions processing and systems

Ideally will be MCIPS or CIPS qualified

Degree would be preferable

Construction project process awareness

Post-graduate training in management and/or procurement

Responsibilities:

Support and advise tendering teams with procurement data and expertise

Act as procurement lead on projects, developing the project procurement strategy, and work as a member of the project team. Tasks will vary between projects, but will typically include procurement planning, supplier selection, integration, negotiation, running reverse aucti ons, documenting contracts, managing supply-related risks, managing disputes and claims, reviewing and recording performance.

The management of local and regional key suppliers

Working closely with national category managers to contribute to and support source plans.

Initiating and leading local change and improvement projects

To be category/product manager for defined nationally managed spend categories as allocated

Ensure compliance with company policy and guidelines, including making significant contractual commitments on behalf of the company.
