DS Smith Paper Limited is the UKs largest manufacturer and recycler of paper.

As part of our strategic development we have identified a new role at Kemsley Paper Mill for an Engineering Improvement Manager. This role will be responsible for leading the Engineering improvement team, developing and delivering best practice engineering standards and maintenance improvement projects in support of the Operational areas.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to undertake the following:

Champion engineering continuous improvement that results in improved performance from each of the site paper machines

Identify, develop and deliver best practice engineering standards that support equipment selection, installation and maintenance

Manage improvement and maintenance projects on time and within budget directly or through your team

Represent engineering in negotiating maintenance contracts that directly impact on paper machine performance ensuring that the content and terms meet engineering standards and deliver the best value.

Identify the risks associated with equipment obsolescence and develop replacement strategies and contingency plans to address those risks

Manage the safety and environmental systems within engineering. Establish systems that ensure that engineering personnel are aware and compliant with relevant legislation

Manage the engineering improvement team promoting challenging objectives and continuous personal development

Provide technical assistance to operational areas as required

To succeed, you are likely to:

Have a Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.Have experience in developing best practice standards, practices and processes in precision maintenance.Have maintenance experience at a supervisory or technical expert level in process manufacturing, paper mill experience an advantage.Have experience of running small to medium scale projects.Be self-motivated and promote continuous improvement.
