Description of the job
Analysis and validation of composite & hybrid structures for static strength. Ensure safe operation of Airbus aircraft with respect to structural integretory and operational effectiveness.

"Analyse and Validate composite & hybrid structures for static strength according to validated Airbus methods. Ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines. Define, interpret and validate tests. Interface and communicate with relevant stakeholders. Provide relevant input to design for the creation of drawings for manufacture. Provide stress analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged structures. Perform monitoring/guidance/support of Sub-contarcting firms and RSP's that are providing structure analysis facilities for Airbus."

Tasks
Role Description

An opportunity has arisen at our Airbus Filton site for an experienced Lead Stress Engineer to work within the Wing & Pylon Centre of Excellence on the A400 aircraft programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading stress activities within the concessions team, and the role will involve solving build related problems of metallic, composite & hybrid in nature towards an optimized solution. The role will be based in a team, located adjacent to the Wing build line, and it will include the technical & functional management of work package subcontractors & support to supply chain activities.

Tasks and Accountabilities

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following:

-Work with design in the generation of solutions for range of non-conformity problems from the build line & supply chain
-Providing strong technical leadership, both internal & external.
-Technical management of suppliers.
-Operate as a signatory within the stress function, (or require short term development to signatory level if not already).
-Liaise with Airbus partners to establish optimum integrated stress solutions.
-Reporting and escalating critical technical issues.
-Working in a fully electronic toolset environment.
-Propose new & support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements.
-Project management of tasks as, and when, required.

Your skills
Required Qualifications and Skills

As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

-Experience of working & leading as a Stress Engineer, preferably with knowledge of non-conformity resolution, including the analysis of metallic and, ideally composite, structures using a broad range of computer based tools.
-A proactive attitude and the ability to work in a very dynamic environment .
-Sound engineering knowledge of Manufacturing and Design techniques, procedures and practices.
-The ability to work to strict timescales, within a multifunctional team / transnational team environment.
-As a team player you should have a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle.
-Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
-Excellent communication skills including English on both verbal and written levels.
