The White Kennett Street Library and Community Centre with effect from April 2012. Initially based at the Guildhall until the Community Centre opens in November.
Salary: Grade D 30,450 - 34,550
This is a new post and the Centre Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the work of this multipurpose facility with particular responsibility for customer care, financial management, facilities management and staffing.
The Centre, which is due to open in the autumn, will provide a range of services to Portsoken residents and City workers including library services, estate services, adult learning, youth services, health and fitness activities and information and advice services. There will also be a space where use by residents will take priority and rooms where private interviews can take place.
With a staff of six plus volunteers, you will report to a Management Board jointly chaired by the Directors of Children and Community Services and Culture, Heritage and Libraries. You will have extensive experience of facilities management, gained from operating in a multi-purpose organisation and you will be able to demonstrate that you have worked successfully in a public facing service and that you can motivate a team to produce excellent customer service.
You will have a higher level qualification and be fully conversant with MS Office products and be an excellent communicator, able to forge strong relationships with staff, various departments of the City Corporation and external stakeholders, you will have a proven track record in delivering successful marketing campaigns. You will also have an understanding of public libraries.
