Description
The Communications Specialist will be a key member of the Maple Court communications team working across the communication function, leading projects and co-ordinating activity both internally and externally. The role requires an individual who is a self starter as well as someone who possesses strong organization, copywriting and web publishing skills and has the ability to work as part of a small team.

Key focus areas of the role include inte rnal announcements, intranet management and events along with social media engagement.

A relevant language will be valuable and viewed very positively as part of the application. Travel across Europe is a possibility for the role, though it will predominantly be based in the Maple Court office.

Training will be provided on the job so any lack of experience / skills can be countered so long as there is a willingness and appetite to learn and develop in the role.

What will I be doing?

Coordinating Activities
Responsible for the coordination and support of the Communications department. Conducts research and compiles reports for Communications department.Acts as liaison between various departments and Communications.Ensures all daily operational functions of Communications are completed smoothly and efficiently.Coordinates intranet training requests and training sessions.Updates the news and information on the European intranet homepageWorks independently or with a team on special and/or recurring department projects such as Hilton Now magazine-contributing story leads, images and photos. Coordinates department activities such as the monthly Huddle team meetings in Maple Court, round table lunches with the Area Preside nt.Liaises with the US team and assists with developing the web-casting solutions, scheduling filming and co-coordinating internal resources.Assists in the preparation of presentation material.Coordinates the translation process for all internal communications materialsCompletes special communications projects as required by other departmental members.Handles media requests and manages journalist visits.Authorizes, organizes and manages all filming and photography requests.Responsible for proactive PR activities, i.e. writing press releases, competitions, surveys and late deals.Manages the approval processes for communications across the European region editing as necessary.
Organising Activities

Distributes announcements/press releases to relevant audiences. Drafts internal announcements and devises plans.Organizes and prioritizes incoming calls to the department, re-routing or assisting callers as needed. Maintains departmental correspondence and the press office resource library.Designs and prepares departmental reports (i.e. charts, graphs, tables, business plans).Creates and develops visual presentations as necessary.Pulls, researches or enters data into spreadsheets and/or databases.Assists in the drafting and distribution of the Europe Clips daily media summary.Manages the press office inbox.Responsible for saving coverage and producing coverage report.Manages communications intranet team site.Manages issue response statements library.Monitors social media landscape and assist the team with responses and enegaement as appropriate.
Administration Activities

Oversees and evaluates press coverage and ensures distribution to key personnelOwns and manages Europe wide media data baseEnsures established performance standards for corporate communications are met. Assesses actual performance against standards to determine whether corporate communications projects are on target to reach goals and takes corrective a ctions as necessary. Ensures business plan is being followed and goals are being achieved and provides feedback accordingly.Enforces policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the department and Company.Operates within established budgetary parameters.

Knowledge of business mathematics, including ability to calculate percentage changes and averages/weighted averages; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including ability to understand/manipulate basic spreadsheets.
Understanding of princi ples and practical application of communications tactics and strategies

Preferred Qualifications

Advance degree in the communications field preferred
Optimum mix of work experience would result in communications and management roles
Basic understanding of European cultures and languages
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
