Capita is recruiting for a SQL DBA (Database Administrator) who has In-depth experience of SQL Server and Windows Server. DBA will involve and maintain individual, team and business SLA's for Service Desk Tickets, Internal Work Requests, Change Requests and Projects. The candidate w ill be working and supporting the DBA team lead. Actively maintain, improve and implement the data stages of the release process through the Integration, QA, Preview and Live environments. Must be a good communicator, able to relate with people across multiple levels and functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Custodian of data accuracy, integrity, security and performance in all environments.
* Perform, deploy and automate business data loads providing the appropriate testing requirements for live deployment.
* Maintain and improve the DBA and product knowledge bases.
* Maintain and consolidate data flows in the live data architecture.
* Monitor and improve the performance of the SQL Server estate ensuring the businesses SLA for uptime is adhered to.
* Ensure the SQL Server estate has an automated backup strategy with appropriate Disaster Recovery to meet the businesses requirements.

Essential:

The ideal candid ate must have the following;
* Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server (versions currently utilised in the business) Data Definition Language and Data Modelling Language.
* Data modelling and use of normalisation to 3rd normal form.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SSIS and SSRS
* Advanced understanding of T-SQL.
* An advanced understanding of Microsoft Windows Server (versions currently utilised in the business) and the software's capabilities.
* An advanced understanding of multi server deployment practices.
* In depth understanding of Microsoft SQL/Windows Server performance tuning and monitoring.
* Experience of managing Disaster Recovery and automatic failover through Database Mirroring, Transaction Log Shipping and Clustering.

* Must show good attention to detail and be abl e to document and clearly present information in meetings and in producing ongoing support documentation.
* Must be honest and open, and willing to provide clear assessment of individual and team performance.
* Must be willing to show flexibility in terms of working patterns, content and approach to suit the demands of the environment which may change over time.
* Must be punctual and adhere to deadlines defined.
