Chemist -12 month maternity cover
This is initially a 12 month maternity cover opportunity. However, there is a strong possibility that due to company expansion this role will become permanent.
The main purpose is to organize and control the day to day activities of the Development Chemistry Team in supporting R&D activities for new materials for photovoltaic applications.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
1.
You will organize and control the day to day work of the Development Chemistry Team ensuring the highest standard performance. You will also ensure that project deadlines are set and met. You will translate the departmental goals into objectives for the team which will deliver high standards of work whilst meeting key deadlines with a priority of time, cost and precision.
2.
To support the manufacturing and engineering team with Chemistry Knowledge, working closely with the Production, Technical and Engineering Teams, giving input and critical information in the optimization of processes.
3.
With broad technical skills you will cover the development of new materials and processes for the implementation on DSSC. You will be asked to provide practical, hands on work in the development of new chemistries, materials and configurations. This includes analytical testing and data collection to support development activities including raw material screening.
4.
To effectively communicate results and relevant project information to the company. You will be asked to prepare and deliver presentations, technical reports, supplier reports and literature/patent surveys
5.
Capability to evaluate project risks and benefits from process changes and/or improvements.
6.
Manage relationships and develop strong contacts with G24i advisors, collaborators, industrial partners and suppliers by managing projects , providing feedback and organizing meetings.
7.
Support validation protocolsfor equipment, processes and laboratory analytical methods.
8.

SELECTION CRITERIA - Candidates will be selected on the basis of the following criteria and their application should address each point to show how their experience and skills meet the criteria.
ESSENTIAL
1.
Considerable expertise in research procedures, and methods to include:
Synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry
Colloid chemistry
Standard analytical techniques (HPLC, FTIR, UV-VIS, etc )
Basic electric and electronic instrumentation
Photovoltaics and electronics.
2.
Excellent working knowledge in synthetic chemistry/standard analytical techniques (HPLC, FTIR, UV-VIS, etc) as well as in basic electric and electronic instrumentation
3.
Ability to lead and facilitate technical development with experience in project management
4.
Good at practical lab work.
5.
Good communication skills.
5.
Analytical thinking logically breaking problems into their essential elements: carrying out diagnosis and developing solutions
DESIRABLE
1.
PhD in Chemistry / Materials Science or similar working experience
2.
Knowledge of photovoltaics and electronics.
3.
Previous experience of managing people.
Salary: 30-35k per annum
