Description of the job
An opportunity has arisen in the TWE Wing and Pylon Customer Service department (TWEXCW) for a Static Stress Engineer for the A400M Repairs Team on the Filton Site.
The A400M Repairs Team will sit within Engineering Customer Services (TWEXCW) and will be accountable for delivering responses to all A400M Customers for all Structural Wing Repairs and Technical Queries.
The role of the stress engineer will be to ensure the structural integrity of all Airbus A400M Repairs with regards to Wing design. This includes the transnational integration of all TWE areas and other Airbus assets involved with A400M Aircraft programme as required.
Initially reporting to the Engineering Team Leader (ETL) for TWEXCW SRM, the A400M Lead Static Engineer will have the opportunity to experience a multi-cultural way of working and to expand task leadership skills at the complete wing level. As the A400M enters service, they will be required to assist the Team Leader in setting up and developing a multi-skilled team equipped to cope with a military aircraft.

The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Work with the Lead Engineer in order to ensure that all A400M methods, tools and policies are identified and adhered to within the Airbus design team and suppliers.
- Carry out static stress calculations as required in support of: Design solutions for A400M Repairs, In-Service Occurrences and any repair designs the A400M team are asked to support.
- Interrogate drawing systems, raising and co-ordinating of documentation, which will include the compilation of technical reports supporting analysis with the appropriate conclusions.
- Undertake the appropriate, associated project management of tasks when required.
- Liaise and be part of an integrated team, providing technical guidance at design review meetings.
- Support on-going local improvement initiatives to increase the efficiency of the Engineering Customer Support group to provide a platform for the continued development of the A400 Repair team.

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- HNC/HND/Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering field.
- Be able to carry out static analysis of aircraft structure using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
- An understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for static stressing and an ability to develop these methods.
- The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide recommendations to the Engineering Programme Manager and Engineer Team Leader.
- The ability to develop and coach less experienced stress engineers.
- The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the project.
- Team Leadership skills with a high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the overriding principle.
- Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis for design solutions.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Pro-active approach to problem solving.
- English: Negotiation level.
