Editorial Quality Executive

Packt books are written by freelance authors and edited by in-house editors based in Mumbai. The books are then proofread by freelance proofreaders.The Editorial Quality Executive (EQE) role is a full-time job based in Birmingham.

The job of theEditorial Quality Executiveis to ensure that the book content due for publication is well written, grammatically correct, accessible, and meets the in-house guidelines. The EQE will also be involved in providing feedback to members of the editorial production team to improve the quality of their editing. The EQE is expected to work on several book projects at a time.

The EQE will report to the Editorial Quality Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

Proofread book content, which involves checking the following against the house guidelines:-Language (e.g. grammar, spelling, usage, and punctuation)-Language (e.g. grammar, spelling, usage, and punctuation)-Code (e.g. formatting, continuity of code lines)-Content (e.g. consistency of style in the case of multi-author books and readability)-Figures (e.g. resolution and quality; illustrations, captions and text match; localization of figures in the case of translated titles)-Language (e.g. grammar, spelling, usage, and punctuation)-Code (e.g. formatting, continuity of code lines)-Content (e.g. consistency of style in the case of multi-author books and readability)Proofread text on paper and on screen.Check the language tests of Technical Editors (TEs).Assess the quality of work of the TEs on a monthly basis.Provide ongoing feedback to improve the language skills of Editorial staff.Contribute to the development and maintenance of the quality control system.Provide training and conduct workshops for Editorial staff in the Mumbai office.Write weekly and monthly performance reports about own performance.If you have the experience required for the Editorial Quality Executive, please apply below.
